Dorothy Andrews has 27 years of actuarial and

insurance, reinsurance companies, international
consulting firms, government agencies, banking, and
academia. Her responsibilities have included
predictive analytics/modeling, actuarial
analysis/oversight, and risk management, among
many others. Dorothy's experience includes:
PREDICTIVE MODELING AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
- Development of P&C, Life, & Health predictive models for pricing & risk classification
- Developing model validation and model performance techniques to mitigate model risk
- Developing monitoring and performance analytics to track model fit
- Development of underwriting scoring engines utilizing behavioral, insurance, & credit data
- Development of statistical sampling techniques for United States Department of Agriculture food safety inspection programs
FINANCIAL MODELING AND REPORTING
- Predictive modeling of Loss Given Default (LGD) risk factors for the development credit scoring models.
- Developing cash flows for the calculations of the Loss Given Default risk parameter
- Identification and resolution of Basel II supervisory gaps in LGD, Default Probabilities, and Exposure At Default metrics
- Stochastic modeling of Guaranteed Minimum Death Benefit guarantees to assess benefit costs
ACTUARIAL MODELING AND VALUATION
- Stochastic & deterministic mortality spline modeling of disease specific impairments for underwriting & pricing life settlement portfolios
- Analyzing mortality, lapse and investment experience for experience studies
- Regulatory Support: Risk-focused exams; analysis of asset adequacy of reserves; suitability modeling of annuities; analysis of predictive underwriting & rating algorithms for pricing & risk classification; disparate impact analysis; review of life insurance product form filings for compliance with State regulations and NAIC Model Laws
Dorothy is the Chief Behavioral Data Scientist for Insurance Strategies Consulting. Her current focus is in the area of building predictive behavioral models for InsurTechs. She regularly presents and authors papers on advanced statistical modeling techniques and has extensive experience building predictive models for P&C, Life, and Health insurers and for the banking industry. She is one of four recipients of the Everett Curtis Huntington Prize for Best Actuarial Research Paper and a nominee for the prestigious Michael Neal Award in Media Psychology. Dorothy is working on a Ph.D. in Media Psychology.
