David Kester, FSA, MAAA
David has experience in actuarial positions in both consulting firms and insurance companies. His experience includes life and annuity statutory reserve calculations, Sarbanes Oxley and Model Audit Rule control compliance, and actuarial software development and management.
Dave has the necessary experience and education (basic and continuing), per the Academy of Actuaries Qualification Standards for Prescribed Statements of Actuarial Opinion, to render a public statement of actuarial opinion.
Dave has experience:
- Supervised a staff of ten, which included two FSA's and an ASA.
- Managing a staff of actuaries and Information Technology specialists.
- Developed several commercial actuarial software solutions including statutory life reserve calculations, pricing and cash flow testing, NAIC compliant illustrations, and life and annuity administration systems
- Performs cash flow testing for over 15 years.
He has been a frequent speaker at actuarial and other insurance industry meetings and seminars including the Society of Actuaries and the Iowa Actuarial Club. David co-authored a book that provides step by step guidance for actuarial students on how to prepare for the actuarial exams.
David served on the Technology Section of the SOA for 3 years. He is a regular contributor to writing articles for the CompAct Newsletter.
